Despina is an arts professional with a background in photography. Working with the social context, the location and the human stories in mind, she develops projects that span exhibition making, publishing and street interventions.

She has graduated from the Media, Arts and Design department of Westminster University, London with an MA in Photographic Studies and from the Fine Arts and Art History department of the University of Ioannina. The years following her graduation she worked as a photographer and photo-stylist for commercial studios, model agencies and independent clients.

Originally from Thessaloniki, she moved to Rotterdam in 2017. There she got involved with artist-run organizations and shifted her focus to community, anthropology and curating. Her projects reflect on the themes of the co-creation process, migration and social inclusion.

Currently she runs Uncontained Art, a nomadic gallery/project space inside a shipping container that docks in port cities and initiates exhibitions, events and collaborations with the local maritime and immigration museums.
