Illustration and book design
Apla kai diaforetika (Simple and different) is a cook book series for readers with disabilities. The idea was born in a public school in Athens for students with additional needs and learning difficulties.
The author -a special needs educator and a food technologist- teaches his students how to prepare a meal, in order to help them live independently.
The recipes are illustrated step by step and organized in a very structured way, making them easy for readers with autism to follow. Simple line drawings, minimal colours, structured layout and some playful references to school notebooks were choosen for the books.
The series consists of 3 books, in 3 different colours:
Blue, for baking.
Yellow, for cooking.
Green, for vegan recipes.
